1- Lifespan vs Healthspan. Whereas Lifespan tells us how long we live, Healthspan tells us how long we live in good health, free from disabling disease, frailty, cognitive decline, chronic pain and loss of independence.
2- Over the last century, medical progress, public health improvements, and better living conditions have dramatically increased human life expectancy. But living longer does not automatically mean living better. Many people now spend their later years with chronic diseases, mobility limitations, depression, or sensory decline.
3- A New Health Model: The game is changing fast, we need to trigger change in the health model even faster. We need to move from a Sick care model to a PEOPLE centered model, where prevention, early diagnostics and healthier life habits will be key to support longer healthier lifestyles in an economically sustainable society.
4- Our genes may influence our health, but only up to approx. 15 to 20%. The rest is on us. The way we choose to live our life. Factors such as physical activity, nutrition, sleep, stress management, social connection, avoidance of tobacco, and reduced exposure to toxins can meaningfully influence biological aging and disease risk.
